Update

Just a quick update. We have a date for the kidney transplant. October 30. I still don't think it's 100%, so I could be giving another update. When I find out more, I'll be sure to let you all know. I have also decided that I will be getting the kids, and when I can, the H1N1 vaccine. I had decided to wait on it, but with the surgery date pretty close I don't want to risk Jared or his dad catching anything that could be prevented....

Sounds like a good plan.

The H1N1 vaccinne was developed a few months ago and has already been tested, specifically at one clinic locally with many of Nate's patients. We had our kids and Nate receive it already, I don't fit the necessary categories and since it is limited they wouldn't give it to me. Because of the upcoming transplant you should clear it with your physicians. They might recommend the shot instead of the nose spray because the shot is a dead virus. Because of Nate's job it is very important to us to keep our kids on top of these things. Unfortunately my mom has a seriously compromised immune system and since they had the live nose spray version they had to stay away from her for a couple of weeks. Best of luck! (PS You also have to space your regular flu vaccine and your H1N1 vaccine if both are the nose spray kind instead of the shots.) Nose spray=live virus, shot=dead virus. Jared should be fine it's being around grandpa that should be researched the most.

Thanks Desiree! I'll definitely be checking into if they can get the spray. I thought that's all that is available right now? My kids are fine to do either, I'd prefer the shot (that's what they had for their seasonal vaccine), I don't want to mess with the live virus...Thanks for the supportive info...
