Updates...

Wow, its sure been awhile since I've posted! Its been crazy busy around here. This is our busy time of the year...Baseball starts and Lexi starts competing solos. Let's see, I'll start with Lexi today....

Tuesday was her 10th birthday. As you can see from this picture she was thrilled with one of her gifts...She's had a cell phone for a couple of years, just the little AT&T firefly. Well, lately she has been hounding me for a "flip phone" to text on. I've been telling her no for awhile, because she never has her phone with her. Well, her two little friends from dance each have a "flip phone" (thats what she calls it) they can text on. So, I caved, and since Tuesday she has sent 135 text messages to her friends....Good thing I got us an unlimited text plan...She had a great birthday, I can't believe she's 10! I remember being 10 like it was yesterday.

She's also been busy competing her solo dance. Tonight is her last one for the season. She has done so well. Last year was her first year competing solo's, (she has been competing in a team since she was 4), so she was in the Amateur division. She did awesome, queen and 1st at every comp. This year her teacher and I had to move her up to intermediate. She has done pretty well in this level, its definitely been a lot harder and she has had to work a lot harder this year. She's placed 1st on the first 2 and 2nd last week. I thought it was good for her to take 2nd, she needs to be challenged. She's also been competing against her best friend too, and they are such good sports. No matter who has placed better they both cheer each other on, and congratulate each other at the end. I've been so proud of her for that. I'm also so proud of her for doing this dance. She has struggled so hard with it all season. Last year she was full of confidence in knowing her dance, this year I haven't seen that same confidence in her, she seems to hesitate a little while she's out there. She's obviously doing great, she's placing well, but I can see her uncertainty. That's been so hard for me to watch. But by doing this I think it will give her such an amazing sense of self worth, and a confidence in herself, that will let her do anything she wants to do in life. She's an amazing girl, I'm very blessed to have had her.
