6th Grade
When I think back to being in school, I instantly go to 6th grade. It was one my funnest years. My teacher was absolutely the coolest. She was young, pretty and totally all things 80's. I couldn't wait to grow up and be like her. Not so much now, shoulder pads....blah...I had 2 of the BEST friends in 6th grade. And we spent a lot of time at the Galleria, roller skating or bowling. So much fun. I still have all of our photo booth pictures. They always make me smile when I see them. Lexi has the best little group of friends. They all get good grades, and you always see them including their younger siblings when they are out playing. They have been together since kindergarten, and have added a few more in along the way. The boys in the group have given her a hard time along the way, but in the end she comes home laughing so hard over something they have done. Boys, I swear, are so completely weird. :) Anyway, they all had a plan to meet up at Hollywood Connections to ride the rides and see Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, Wednesday after school. No parents. I was pretty nervous letting her go. Times are so different from when I was dropped off at the Galleria. But, I was still dropped off and allowed that chance to prove if I was trustworthy and to have a fun time. We decided to let her go and she had the best time. I picked up another little boy who lives behind us, and the rest of the kids were all meeting there. She was where she needed to be when I picked her up, and the smile on her face was priceless. So cute. Then I find out that two of the girls who were being dropped off never showed. So Lexi was there with just the boys. I have known these boys since kindergarten and they all meet at the park and ride bikes, call, text and walk home together everyday. I didn't feel to worried about her when I found out. I wasn't happy, but I knew she was ok. Jared however was not happy and felt she should have called to tell us so we could have picked her up. Like that was ever an option in her mind. But, it still wasn't appropriate. She couldn't quite understand what the problem was, to her she was there with her friends, that are just boys...as she told me. I didn't want to argue with her and spoil the fun she had, so I just said that unless I can pick up these other girls (thinking maybe you need to find some new girlfriends) next time, you won't be able to go with just the boys. It's funny, she always has new girl friends, I can hardly keep their names straight, buts its this group of boys that have always stayed consistent. I too, have always preferred hanging with the boys rather than the girls...they were and still are drama. Maybe that's why I feel these boys were ok to be with. Or maybe I am crazy and need a reality check? What are all of your thoughts?? :)

Sheesh. It's the girlfriends that are the trouble for us. Wish Isabel had some friends that were boys. Less drama.
At the moment all I can think of are my fond memories of hanging out with Brian, Brian, Ben, David, Jared and Cameron while all the other girls were off with boyfriends. Love those guys!
This is a hard one. I think I would feel the same way as you, since she just sees them as her friends that happen to be boys.... but I also had my parents convinced that I hated boys until I was in 9th grade!!! (Right) This way, there were no questions asked about boys, my point being, kids can be sly and pull things over on you very easily because you want to believe they are the best, just keep your eyes and ears open! Good luck.
Very true Nicole. And Lexi reminds me everyday how much alike we really are. I'm ready and I'm already one step ahead of her...;) Jakson is an excellent set of extra eyes and ears...
